Cali's is a Stylish & Fashionable Brand which embodies originality & exclusivity.
The Brand name Capture all Life in Style says it all.
Inspired by The Culture. The Arts. The Essence. Is Cali's form of expressing our gratitude and appreciation for what these designer brands such as Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, FUBU and Marc Ecko
embodied to many...and personally to me in the
NYC streets and in the industry of fashion during the'90s.
It's bigger than fashion, it's not just about style in clothing.
Personally, it's all about repping & wearing your Confidence, Dedication
and your commitment to being a Hardworker.
Honoring your God-Given gifts in always looking to serve while never compromising your integrity and in our case the quality & detail of our products & goods along with our commitment to serving.
All of these are characteristics that represent the structure and strong family tied foundation that this brand has been built upon since being founded in Feb 2009.
The artistry expressed in Cali's garments is highly detailed and colorful in which we like to consider as Classic Steelo, Retro designs
(Steelo meaning Style).
We Love putting different colors together and mixing fabrics, especially when designing our garments.
These pieces are exclusive limited collections that are detailed with Embroidery, Sublimated, and Screenprints such as Unisex Tshirts, Hats, Sweatshirts, Sweatsuits, Shades & accessories.
About Mr.Cali'Styles Meneses
Hi, I am Andres Cali's Meneses also known in the fashion Industry as Mr.Cali'Styles, you know we wild...we glowing now. I was born in Cali Colombia, and have been living in NYC since the mid-'80s. That is when my mom decided to take a leap of faith and set out to give me & herself more opportunity and immigrated to the USA.
Thank God we touched grounds in 1985.
All Glory to God Thank You for believing in me, Thank You for the vision.
Now back to me getting to the USA Home of The Brave by this risk-taking act of faith my mom took, I must say it helped nourish my entrepreneurial spirit and without me knowing at the time seeded a purpose in me which will later flourish.
I recall after 3 years of being in the USA barely speaking English although I understood Thee Arts on the walls I Loved the graffiti on the trains, the tags; the tags were & are a way to express yourself.
It was like a brand per say, your aka your own name...
I remember people literally fighting for tag names.
God I love my era.
It was 1988 at the early age of 10 while my mother worked 2-3 jobs to provide for us, I was offered a job working at a pizzeria where I ate every day after school before taking the train home. A blessing in disguise indeed because at the time I was wanting to buy name brand clothes and sneakers especially Nike Air Jordans but couldn't afford them. That was until this man Sal, the pizzeria owner said to me "Hey I've taken notice that you always eat here and then clean my tables up after eating. Do you like to clean my tables? Will you like a job here cleaning my tables? I'll pay you $25 a week for 10 hours of your time, 2 hours a day 5 days a week". One week later my mother met with Sal and we all agreed that I will take on that responsibility and I did for 2 years.
Fast forward 10 years now 1998 I was faced with adversity in High school never did I like showing up to school I'd prefer to work and make money. Until I saw all my buddies graduating and I was still a sophomore at the age of 19. Now feeling like a loser. Yeah I had a car, I had a job and was hustling massively in the streets. Especially name brand clothes which I sold out my trunk and still do to this day. It hit me that I was letting my mom down...
the one person who had sacrificed so much for me and now I had to tell her I was going to be a dropout. All I can say is we argued a bit, until she said these words "Is this why I brought you here? This is America.
Your So blessed don't waste your life embrace this opportunity you can be much more than a hustler from the streets, just getting by?
This is what I get in return?"
Seeing my mother cry while expressing all her pain, I felt her struggle and that I was not honoring all her sacrifices. That moment was enough for me to know I had to graduate. I knew now I had to honor her so I contacted my counselor Mrs.Daimond but she was no diamond! I went to her & asked if she can please help organize a schedule for me
which will allow me to go to school for a straight year from
7:45am - 10:15pm...Regular school, PM after school and Night school.
So that i can graduate and receive my High School diploma.
Her response was are you kidding, you never come to school in 4 years you have 13 credits you've wasted my time, go get a GED or job, go to the corner with your buddies but you are a waste of my time.
After hearing those words all it did was fire me up I remember all my friends would talk about Mr.Lee the counselor in the past he had a great reputation and I respected that. So I met with him and he set me up and I graduated in Sept 98. It was my first big confrontation with adversity.
So I say this, many didn't believe then that I was going to graduate, as many didn't think I would still be here writing this 10 years later.
Since graduating I had several jobs in retail from Sales, Telemarketing,
Stock Supervisor at The Children's Place and Ito En Green Tea.
Also like I mentioned before, sold lots of clothes out of the trunk of my car. Now 2007 one day while at my sales supervisor and product development job, I got an inner calling to start something for myself and my future family which I always prayed about having as a kid...and now having a girlfriend with a son to provide for. I knew I wanted to be a role model to him and instill in him my life lessons while helping him become a man of character, integrity, a mensch as my third-grade teacher would say, who does what he loves and serves it to the best of his God-given abilities..
So off to Cali, Colombia we go for the first time in nearly 15 years to design
and manufacture my first pair of shades, along with becoming in tune
and in harmony with my Colombian roots. I had left so young, I feel the NYC streets had taught me and exposed me to a lot at an early age. I felt that in order for me to really grow from within, I had to know where I really come from and how I can one day help make big business between
The USA and Colombia. Two powerhouses becoming ONE means
So on this trip, at my grandfather's mountain top, I set a goal for myself that in 10 years or so God Willing I would be able to do big business between Colombia and America which will help with job opportunities but most importantly help Honor our Pledge allegiance as Americans and Honor Gods Nation in Unity. Considering that as a kid during that time, I was ashamed to be Colombian because of the whole Pablo Escobar epidemic. He really gave us a bad rep for a while in the mid-'80s and early 90's and I was going to do something about it one day! That one day had arrived,...while on that plane, I was ready to give my past closure so I finally asked my mother who my dad was? What did he do? Why did he leave me? All she said was he was a clothing retail business owner and she was his head sales associate until they fell in love and later I was born. She then found out he had another family...blazay blazay you get it...LOL! She had no idea though, what that story was doing to me. Deep within me, I felt right away I was heading in the right direction. It fueled my purpose to make this happen. I already knew my God-given gifts were in my blood.
After coming back from my journey in Colombia, I brought back 24 shades and sold all of them in local retail stores & boutiques of which I had access to already due to me and a close friend starting a t-shirt line a year prior. In 2006 we had established a business relationship with some retail stores already so when I got my glasses done, I sold the glasses in 3 selected shops within 3 weeks. After those selling, I knew my purpose was to honor the sacrifices my mom had done for me and our family by taking a risk that no one else in our family had done before her.
She didn't do it to be the first one. I'm sure she just wanted change she wanted no handouts from no man and prove to her parents she got us!
So now more purpose-driven with the desire to grow with Faith leading my way and most importantly, I was given and embracing new beginnings more life by my Heavenly Father... More vision. I personally believe that if you are a man with no vision, then you are a man with no mission!
I was finally confident enough to embrace the opportunity my mom had given to me to go and pursue The American Dream while always Giving Praise to Lord & Savior Jesus and Serve in Faith, with Confidence, Dedication and Hard work.
Now Jan 2009, about to have a little girl, my family is growing and I'm feeling lost and astray. I knew that to accomplish this I needed to trust my Heavenly Father more than ever so He can guide me...considering again I never met my dad in flesh it was hard at first. I knew I had to build and structure an honest relationship with His begotten Son Jesus Christ,
in knowing He is the only ONE to have access to the Father.
Also knowing the vows with Him are like marriage in good and bad,
I will always love my wife as Christ loves the church. Meaning that even in a crisis I will Praise & Honor Him and when walking in glory I will always praise & Honor His works in me! In always Giving God All Glory!
Once I vowed to worship and make Christ Jesus my Lord & Savior I prayed more than ever hoping I would receive more guidance, His Mercy, His Grace, His Favor, His Divine connections and most importantly His Love.
Guide me he did, now we needed a name so one day after leaving a family bbq I was praying while driving for the name of the brand and then it happened! The name came about with a simple question I asked myself.
How have I always lived my life? The answer to that was I've always Captured all Life in Style. Now the last question was. How is this going to be done? The Brands message and motto was born with
Faith, Confidence, Dedication & Hardwork.
